The 101st Air Assault Division traces its origins to the 101st Airborne Division, an elite air assault unit of the United States Army. Originally established as a parachute infantry division during World War II, it was later reorganized as an airmobile division during the Vietnam War and subsequently designated as an air assault division, utilizing helicopters for rapid aerial assaults and swift advances.
